S/O to Brooke Jeffrey

I am not really all that ready for my best friend of a long time to go off to college. Not only is she starting a new chapter in her life but she's doing it without me and I don't like that. From sleepovers that don't consist of sleeping, celebratory swings after major life events, beach days, tubing, truth or dare, parties, BBQs, birthdays, running laps around our elementary school, prom, playing on the kids gig, our trip to the Great Wolf Lodge, to breakups, fights, screaming, making fun of girls, hating the girl the other one hates even if you don't know them, and so much more. I have always been amazed at the love I feel you Brooke Sydney. You went from weird stranger to friend to best friend to sister in such a short time that as I type this blog post I find myself reliving every moment we've spent together like a recording.

And so, as you enter into this new and exciting part of your novel I want you to know that I love you as a sister. And though we may be 920.92 miles and 16.2 hours physically detached I am but a phone call a train ride, plane ride, car ride, and boat ride away.

And, since this is such a MAJOR event in ones life to go off to college this seems quite necessary:

#nannylife

Amongst a plethora of jobs babysitting ridiculous kids with a ridiculous amount of energy and an even more ridiculous level of stamina it's incredible the difference between a babysitter and a nanny. A babysitter just has that "it'll end soon and I won't have to come back for a LONG time" feel whereas a nanny is continuous, and basically becomes a stand in mom. It's weird jumping from a babysitter to all of a sudden being a nanny for THE most ridiculous kids. I'm pretty sure that they make it difficult on purpose when you're their nanny and not just their babysitter. You develop a great love for the children you nanny and it's a different kind of love than what you feel towards your family and friends but is just as much love.

I constantly find myself covered in a library of substances. Do you need extra ketchup? That's on my right pant leg. Still thirsty? There's Sprite on my right leg. And, that weird spot on my shoulder, that's your snot from getting angry with me. And that stuff on my cheek? Yeah, that's from you spitting on me when I put you in time out. And, don't think the dog forgot about me! Because on my foot...she's left a little present and left me to step in it.

Nothing is sacred anymore either. Once you've hit "level: nanny" you give up ALL privacy. Not even the bathroom is sacred. If this is what mommy life is like Masen and Azzie have me TOTALLY prepared.

Your knowledge of different things expands as well. "What have you learned today Jo-Jo?"
1.  That Clifford the Big Red Dog has been replaced with Jo-Jo's Circus, The Roly Poly Olies, and weird shows with weird looking people on them and awkward story lines
2. The best insult a 3 year old has screaming "you're a girl girl!" Well, thank you. I needed that affirmation to my gender.
3. Nutella and bread shuts up any tantrum
4. That stuff that looks like chocolate that the kids are playing with is definitely NOT chocolate.
5. The dog's treats are to be put on the highest shelf or you find the 3 year old feeding her until she poops everywhere.
6. When you hear yelling....run!
7. My numbers 1-5 and then the words "time" and "out"
8. Sharing does not exist.
9. That I can memorize the words to every show on disney jr.
10. No matter what you wear it gets dirty...mine as well wear your birthday suit
11. Your phone, kindle, ipad, or any other electronic will no doubt be covered in foreign substances when they're done playing with them
12. When you're out of your comfort zone...you've reached nanny level
13. If you nanny the kids long enough they tend to call you "aunty"
14. The 5 year old knows how to work electronics better than me
15. Paper plates and paper cups or ceramic plates and glass cups or sippy cups and plastic plates it doesn't matter...it ends up on the floor anyway
16. You're never only a nanny. You're a comforter, maid, chauffer and a "boss".

Elephant Love

Happy Elephant loves you!!

If you want to learn more about how you can help the elephants follow Art for Elephants on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/artforelephants?fref=ts

In the Peninsula Gateway:
"Senior Samantha Lunderville is doing an elephant foot out of paper mache and adding some photography with it.
“People don’t seem worried about losing a giant part of not only history through evolution, but of our family as connected species,” Lunderville said. “Elephants are history, not bracelets or chopsticks or necklaces. They’re something to be protected, not worn.”
And that’s the truth!"

At this point in the photoshoot the garage next to us were stripping into booty shorts and bras and taking pictures of themselves. As you can see, we're all covered up. Two graffiti artists were in the same garage as us and said "You know girls, you look more beautiful than the girls over next door that are getting naked."

SO! Laydays! Moddest really IS hottest.

Photos of the Senior Kind

Last weekend I had the chance to meet Devon Michelle who owns this AMAZING (that's an understatement) photography business! She is a talented young artist behind the lens! Upon meeting her I was a little nervous because I had never gotten my photo taken by a professional without the rest of my family. SO! I brought my two trusty sidekicks! Sydney and Brooke! Needless to say they look amazing in front of the lens. We had a blast and it was fun getting to know Devon!

This is Brooke! Ain't she a beauty! Photo Credit: Devon Michelle

As I was talking with Devon she learned about me and I learned about her. She used to be a Psychologist for pregnant teens, and substance abusers. We have that in common. Well, I just want to be a Psychologist. Then, I learned that she used to be a social worker, which is something I want to eventually use my degree to do. We had a lot that we shared.

She also learned about the juicy stuff! What a luck photographer she is!

Prom de Mormon

Once upon a time there was a group of teens that went to Mormon Prom. (sidenote: it's where tons of super mormon kids get together 16 and up and get into pretty dresses, and wear handsome suits and go dancing together.) (sidenote 2: if you don't know what a mormon is, you're seriously missin' out dude frude.)

Anyway! Samantha went to Hannah's and got ready and they lost ALL motivation to actually look good so it took WAY longer than it needed and they procrastinated so they didn't have enough time. Not. At. All.

Almost ready! Photo Credit: Lara Nelson

They were on a tight schedule. They had to be at Austin Shong's house promptly at 4:30...so naturally they were there at 4:50. (In their defense they got a little lost and had to call Mr. Shong.)

They get there and Sean Bills puts on Samantha's corsage (which was beautiful) and she was left to her own faculties to figure out how to do the boutineer. Let's just say...it took her a while.

Then! The beautiful Lara Nelson took their pictures. They looked hawt so why not?!

And that was the end result. Good lookin' group doods! ^^^^^^^^^^^
Then, Hannah decides to play a little and touch Samantha's and Lexie's butt.

And then Samantha's bracelet got stuck on Hannah's handmade dress.

They then ventured to Anthony's. To put this simply...Samantha hate seafood. Know what Anthony's serves?! Fish. Every kind. Cooked every way. Served every way. What did she have? A salad. Made for a two year old. She finished it all, ate a TON of bread to fill her up and called it good! She left to go to the bathroom in between this ordeal with Lexie and Hannah (DISCLAIMER: THE FOLLOWING MAY BE TOO MUCH TO HANDLE) and they went into their stalls and Samantha had this random piece of fabric on her dress and it's seperate from the actual dress so if she forget to lift it up too she would pee all over it. The girls knew this so in her Samantha brain I was like "Hmm...let's mess with them! How does that sound little piece of fabric?" So, she sit down on le toilet and said "OH MY GOSH!!!!!" and they're like "What?!" And she frantically (she had really good acting skills) say "My random piece of fabric just went into the toilet." COMPLETE SILENCE for a legit 3 seconds and then..............LAUGHING! They laughed at her pretend struggle. Found out she was joking they decided to back to the table and tell all the dudes. Not cool.

After venturing away from Anthony's they go to the dance. Dance was pretty...AMAZING!! The decorations looked fantastic, the little shops were amazing. They did a super cool job!!!

After the dance, they go to Taco Bell and on the way Sean decides to play some music.
They're all dancing so much the car is shaking!

And then, Austin plays his music...
Instead of dancing, they're singing. And Sean turns the volume up to 50.

They get to Taco Bell, order our food and venture to Ryan's house.
That handsome man is Ryan! Photo Cred: Lara Nelson
And lemme tell ya! His house is GORGEOUS!! Holy moly! They hang out, meet his ADORABLE little sister and his GORGEOUS other sister and his BEAUTIFUL mom and HANDSOME dad. (That entire family is blessed with some hawt genes.)

After that they go to Austin's to drop everyone off and Sean takes Samantha home ending the night with a goodbye hug and a walk through her front door.

Long story short: IT WAS AN AMAZING NIGHT!

And they all lived........Happily Ever After!!
